Mobile County Metro Jail

Find Mobile County Metro Jail inmates...

Telephones

Interview with Todd

JM: Did you have regular access to telephones?
Todd: yes as long as you had someone paying high prices to this company called global tel link that was the only way you could use the phone which when alot of people go to jail they dont have people to accept the calls

JM: What types of charges applied for calling people? How much money would you guess the average inmate spends per week on phone calls?
Todd: well when i was in county jail it was three dollars per call for 15 minutes and in prison it was like 6to 10 dollars per call

JM: Did you need to buy phone cards to call out?
Todd: no

JM: Did the jail screen your calls?
Todd: yes they record all phone conversations

Long distance calls are 21.99 a.call. The easiest way is to get a prepaid phone with mobile, al number if u have someone in jail in al but you're long distance. Also.. The phones suck at metro. I can barely hear my boyfriend each time he calls. He has to beat the phone to get it to clear up for a second. Why dont they have decent phones?? Esp since family is paying ridiculous prices and only have a few min to talk to them each day.

Is there any other method of phone conversation other than thru Global Tel Link? Their prices are ridiculous. It is not the inmate having to pay those fees!! It is the innocent family members or friends. Not fair!

Karen.. Are u long distance? Local calls are like 3 to 350 for 15 min thru global. If u are long distance, there are ways around it as I listed above. Ur right.. It does suck for us! Those calls add up fast. Good luck.
